Guilt Free Kids Birthday Party Feast

Everyone loves Party Time right? Organising a toddler birthday party starts out fun with the decorations, party game choices, well behaved little angels sharing and eating all their lunch and non-sugar-filled treats. Hmmmm……

Keeping it simple with some organisation prior to the day is the key to ensure you enjoy every minute as much as the little birthday babe and guests. For me delicious, enjoyable food to share with friends and family is the key to happiness. So I thought I’d share with you our array of feasts and a couple of easy recipes I used to ensure a refined sugar and gluten free display that everyone will truely enjoy (have you seen a toddler overloaded or after any dosage of sugar?!). Plus I wanted to enjoy the leftovers (if any) for lunch the next day and not have a fridge full of crappy food for the next few days. Excuse the photos I was actually enjoying the socialising part I forgot to take many and these are courtesy of my sister

I prepared EVERYTHING the day before or even the day before that just to ensure my little man’s birthday party morning wasn’t going to be filled with a stressed Mumma resulting in a grumpy toddler. The menu looked like this;

  • Chicken and Beef burger patties

  • Easy coleslaw salad and Potato Salad

  • Homemade Sauces, Nomato, pumpkin spice, moroccon spice

  • Cheeseburger dim sims

  • Butcher sourced sausages

  • Cherry ripe slice

  • Lemon slice

  • Chocolate mousse

  • Choc raspberry birthday cake!

Chicken & Beef Burgers & THOSE Dim Sims!

The chicken burgers were adapted from the Merry Maker Sisters chicken rissoles. Simply Organic free range chicken mince, onion, carrot, with whatever herbs I had handy (thyme, oregano, garlic, ginger, turmeric and black cracked pepper), egg and a dash of /Nomato/ sauce from Sarah Wilson ‘I Quit Sugar - Simplicious’. Mash all the ingredients together and roll into balls. The beef burgers I made similarly but with rosemary.

Cheeseburger Dim Sims OH MY GOODNESS you heard right! for this easy foolproof recipe check out Sarah Wilson’s ‘I Quit Sugar - Simplicious’

Salads

Coleslaw with a Thermomix is incredibly easy no excuses however without is still pretty easy, you could pop all ingredients into a food processor, grate them or imply slice thinly. I used purple cabbage to add a pop of colour, carrot, apple, onion, salt & pepper, homemade mayo unless you can find a good quality one. Mix it all up, DONE!

The Potato salad, I use a mix of sweet and white potatoes diced up and boiled then set aside. Dice up and fry off in coconut oil some bacon, sprinkle on top of the potatoes. Sometimes I boil up some eggs and slice onto the top of the potatoes also. The dressing…. Into a nutri-bullet or blender I put coconut or olive oil, tumeric, dill, garlic, ginger, some lemon juice and black pepper, blitz then drizzle over the potato salad and VOILA!

I didn't make this one for this party but one I usually do is a roast veggie salad, simply dice up all the veggies you want to use, beetroot, sweet or white potatoes or both, carrot, pumpkin - roast them up and toss in some spinach leaves once cooled and top with some Feta. Enjoy!

Sauces

Everyone loves sauce at a BBQ but have you read the label on a typical store brought tomato sauce? I always have a batch of Sarah Wilson’s Nomato Sauce in the fridge so that was easy (if you haven’t tried this I strongly recommend you do) and to add some options I simply added a mix of spices to a couple of dishes of Mayo, you could try a moroccon type flavour, garlic and lemon etc be inventive.

Slices

Cherry Ripe slice is another delicious Sarah Wilson recipe from ‘I Quit Sugar - Simplicious’ However, you could use the same base for both slices for the lemon slice we used simply mixed nuts, lemon rind and dates blitzed to a sticky consistency and pressed into the slice tin, for the lemon slice topping coconut, lemon rind and juice and coconut oil blitzed to a smoothish consistency and press flat on the base, chill then EAT!

CHOCO MOUSSE

A rich decadent deliciously nutritious chocolate mousse, this one I have shared before but it’s such a hit every time I’ll share again 😉 Avocado, bananas, raw cacao, rice malt syrup or honey, peanut butter except we had a little human with a peanut allergy so we used cashew butter instead - blitzed to a silky smooth consistency and topped with fresh strawberries. Enjoy and You’re Welcome!

Birthday Cake
